Rudra

Anything that exists(Indra) has an individuality(Vishnu) associated with it. Even if that particular entity(Indra) is evil. Whether Good or Bad, they both have survival instincts. It depends on the entity they lie within to decide which one stays unharmed in the end. This outer entity has its own set of rules. Having rules is also an important Vedic concept defined as Varuna. Every entity follows its own set of rules that allow it to work in its environment. These rules must be flexible to change(Vayu) from the environment(Soma from environment(Dyava)) to stay alive(Agni-Vayu). The core(Vishnu) should be maintained though because it defines the uniqueness(Individuality- Vishnu). To use the rules in decision making, they should consider a lot of diverse(multiple- feminine) information that are interconnected with each other. Most importantly they should serve each other(creating abundance: multiple and abundant- Lakshmi) well and closed(Indra) for a concrete/fair(Vishnu) decision to be made. Every new information entering must be well connected with the previous information. Lack of connectivity can withhold the decision making process. So rules have to be well connected in multiple aspects to be used(i.e. to have a purpose(Vayu)- to be alive(Vayu)) and information given(Soma) should also be well-connected in the multiple aspects to be digestable(or make sense) by the receiving/deciding entity. This idea can be misused to provide well-connected wrong information that sounds correct. Such information are poisonous and can kill the intended entity. In such a case, a closely associated entity that will also suffer damage from the poisonous information(Soma) about the intended entity must take the initiative to counter that. Closely associated entities are those entities that spend a higher portion of their time with the intended entity. When I come to discussing Pusan, you will be able to understand this better. Therefore the biggest poison that can ultimately kill an entity is from the entity of the highest level of close association. This is why in military endeavours, if these type of entities change loyalty, it’s a very big gain for the interested group. Such entities belong to the core(protective- Vishnu) of the intended entity. Now you can imagine what happens when this is lost. To belong to the core of the entity requires acute intelligence(Agni-Indra: more of Agni-Vishnu since Vishnu is the good subset of Indra) directed towards protection(Vishnu). A lot of constraints(Pitrus: we will look into this later) show up when doing so due to past activities and experiences. To counter these the Vaastu Chart says implementing Eesaniyam(a form of Rudra) works, i.e. taking control of the situation works. So now we are going to understand the Rudra concept.

RUDRA:

Rudra in Sanskrit means Howler derived from the root rud- meaning to cry. It actually depicts a form of communication. A sound form of communication. Communication is all about transferring and receiving information(the Soma here). Let’s break this down to some Soma communication so that we can generalize it. So it’s not only sound but any other form of communication. Now let’s think about what happens during communication. Let’s think about two people talking to each other or a person talking to a gathering. The person takes into account the situation and controls what he/she will say or do next. This is again an Agni model if look into it further. Over here we are talking about the controllability. Most of what we do involves controlling. Even learning. Just keep thinking Agni while I discuss Rudra. When learning about something we send a test stimulus to that entity and see how it behaves. We then document this behavior so that we can pass the knowledge to others. We control the language in such a way to convey exactly what we learned. We include definitions explaining what things are and are not to explain the studied behaviours of that entity further and easily. The learners then begin to visualize the behavior of that entity through the language we used. After learning about something, the next thing we get interested to do is to control that entity in the way we want it to behave. All scientific philosophies developed so far follow this method. Whether it is for implementing or analyzing bigger things, we control those things the way we want it. In the Puranas we encounter the fact that both the Good and Evil forces worship Shiva(the most popular form of Rudra we encountered in the previous post) as Shiva in these contexts represents Scientific Knowledge.

Let’s look further into controllability. It is the part that decides what/how much to allow and what/how much to not allow. It can thought of some sort of traffic regulation where at some point only some lanes are allowed mobility while others aren’t. Rudra itself isn’t as significant as Shiva. Shiva implements Rudra mostly but Shiva is something that shows the benefits of implementing Rudra. So when you travel to India to its temples or read scriptures you will mostly visualize Rudra as Shiva. At this point I can describe Shiva in detail because I haven’t yet discussed Chandra which is a very important part of Shiva. But in my next section more about the ancient representations of Shiva. I had already explained in brief of what Shiva represents in my previous post. We will walk further in that path.

SHIVA:

During my Vedic research, I used to look at historical connotations given in many modern literatures that involved Deities and used my Vedic understanding to understand what those excerpts were actually talking about. I believed that these excerpts maintained the information contained in the original texts because the authors had that responsibility.

I’m a Bharathanatyam Artist and so I come across Shiva quite a number of times. In fact the male form of the art is a Thandava style. Thandava represents the style in which Shiva dances. Shiva also has a very popular epithet known as Nataraja meaning the King of Dance. If you look into the history about the origin of Bharathanatyam, this form of art began in the Treta Yuga(Age) by Sage Bharatha Muni along with the birth of Carnatic Music. When Sage Bharatha Muni was designing the art form(depicted in literature as Bramha, The Creator, creating the art form and passing it onto Bharatha Muni- Note: People of those days credited their work along the skill(Deity) they used. A sort of practice they used to avoid any form of egotism. The same is the case with Sage Vyasa with is work on Mahabharath.) he kept in mind the Shiva aspect. Now with our understanding of Shiva as a controller what could this mean? The art form does some sort of controlling or manipulation but of what? Considering the fact that the art form was also known as the fifth Veda, we can say that it controls the Natural Elements(Deities). So the Natyashashtra talks about how to control the Deities the way you want it. Sounds like some sort of revolutionary technique was developed two Yugas ago to control Nature and the worst part was that it went into the wrong hands as well(This art form was also taught to Raavan, the deadliest demon ever to have existed on Earth). I, as a Bharathanatyam Dancer, don’t even know how this works. I have to study the four Vedas in detail first to even understand a teeny weeny part of it. Now something sounds awkward. How can an art form change Nature? Or how by just dancing can you change Nature? Well we have come across the fact that music, or some sort of sound perception, can cure certain ailments. We just need to think further that visual perception can also make a difference. When both work together in harmony something does change in the viewers. It’s my theory. So you are free to disagree. But if you really think deeper you might unleash the fact that the Human Race is actually some form of Divinity. Think about it. If we are given the capability or permission(Rudra- Nature controls what it gives us) to control Nature there should be some pretty good reason for it. And the fact that we have lost this Divinity also tells us that at some point in time the transition happened.

Now this leads to a question that if Nature controls everything, why was a demon like Raavan allowed to take birth in the first place? The Indians saw the birth of demons differently and they had documented their notion in a famous Purana that narrates the demons to be the incarnation of the Divine Gatekeepers. Since Nature is designed to ensure safety(Vishnu) of all species at the same time serving each other(Lakshmi), Nature was usually represented as Vishnu in the Puranas. The Divine Gatekeepers are the ones that protect the work of this Nature. So if this Nature desires a transition, these Gatekeepers make sure it happens. This idea comes from the Vedic concept known as Pusan, The Path Protector. To make a transition they have to go against the established order(whether good or bad) and that makes them demons. Raavan was meant to make this transition a large one. If you plot the four Yugas on the Vaastu Chart based on their percentage of time lengths with respect to one whole Creation Cycle(One Brahma Day) you will understand why this was the case.

To deal with real problems(real problems have multiple constraints because of the Lakshmi aspect) you will need the courage and confidence to deal with multiple constraints. This is represented as Parvathi/Durga, the consort of Shiva. In Bharathanatyam, the feminine form of the art is her Lasya(graceful) style. It is this style that maintains the art form as a divine art. Women those days were maintainers of divinity, not men. Men were mainly doers, divine or undivine. That’s why Raavan had to attack women to destroy divinity of mankind.

My next post will be about the Maruts. Many of the concepts I have talked about so far will become clear.

Vishnu

When evaluating a system(Prithvi), it's Soma is very important. It always exists and we need to figure out what it is. Most of the Deities exist in the same manner. And once we do so, the rest is left to see how they play. Like any other scientific discovery, where scientists translate(Agni: the transforming(Agni) variables are the Soma) a fluid system(Dyava), for example, to an electrical system(Prithvi) which is easier to evaluate using Kirchoff's Laws and then remap(Indra: the transformed variables(Soma)) the electrical response(Dyava) to the fluid dynamics(Prithvi) to gain insights(Agni:Soma) regarding the behaviour(Vayu: but more of a Rudra-Vayu entity) of the fluid system(Prithvi). The trick remains on how to use the Deities to evaluate systems(Prithvi) that guide our living rules. Let's do an example. Let's evaluate a Fasting System which many religions, preferably Islam, follow for benevolent causes. The benevolence somehow seems devoid with a large number of followers of Islam even though they follow the Ramadan Fasting strictly. There is something else that's happening. Let's figure it out now. Over here the Soma is Fasting. Simple formula, the adjective of the system is the Soma. The Soma for an Electrical System is Electrical Signals(these specify amounts(Soma) entering the system(Prithvi)). The Soma for a Fluid System is the Fluid under consideration. The Soma for a Biological System is the Biological Fluids(Vitamins, Carbohydrates, Proteins, etc). The Parts are the Deities that take in the Fluids(Soma). So Fasting is the Soma. Well Fasting means restraining oneself from consumables, but in our case it's the Soma which represents consumables. The idea here is that you trying how Fasting tastes like. The taste is that you become weak, you cannot concentrate well in your diurnal activities, you feel sleepy, etc. When you break the Fast, you hog like crazy. According to me Ramadan Fasting which is done in a worldwide scale, should be the key in transforming the World into hungerless. It should be the key in giving life to people who are dying of hunger and not kill those who have life already. Somehow the opposite is happening. Details of what is actually happening requires the knowledge of more Deities I haven't covered yet so far but I can combine those effects into macro-levels to Deities we have already covered. Let's start with Agni as Prithvi's child. Agni is always close to Prithvi. That means whenever we talk about some entity(Prithvi) we consider it as something that can consume(Agni- it has life). With Indra, this entity(Prithvi) can feed(Agni) by itself. We can interpret this as you(Prithvi) feed(Agni process) your(Indra) mind what you learn(Soma) from outside(Dyava) you. Your mind becomes your child. This means you create(your child) something in your mind from what you learn. That creation becomes your child and you feed it.

Your mind has many such creations meaning you have more than one child in our mind. The teachers(A Rudra-Vayu(Father Dyava) and Soma-Chandra(Mother Prithvi) entity) of Islam create an imaginary world to their followers(Agni-Maruts: children). The Father is usually the one who brings Soma and the Mother is the one that filters the good from the Soma turning it into Apas(Water- good for living) for her children. This whole process is represented by a single term Shiva(you will find this represented as Rudra with Chandra in the head and Apas emerging from the head). The children go to the outside world and behave in accordance to what they learn. What they learn controls them. The followers(children) create the same world in their minds. So now that world behaves in two ways. It's like your Parents you feel proud of and your child you also feel proud of. During the learning stage it's a child while during the execution stage it's a Parent. Remember Agni not only takes inputs but also gives outputs. This imaginary world is feed more often making the real world which is also created in their minds automatically, since they live in it, starve or suffer. Now do you see what's happening? Every action of theirs is directed to this imaginary world and not the real world they live in. So the Ramadan Fasting is done keeping this imaginary world in mind and this is why the real world isn't benefiting from it. After I discuss Vishnu we can discuss this matter further.

VISHNU:

Vishnu in Sanskrit means the Active One. Usually represented as The Protector. He gets this ability with his friendship with Indra. Protection is some closed loop form and ensures balance between different entities. Indra and Vishnu are always together and they share some characteristics. That defines their friendship. Infact a only a portion of Indra's characteristics represent Vishnu and this makes Indra still the King of Heaven. But the heavenliness is due Vishnu. The good characteristics of Indra belong to Vishnu. We can say that Vishnu is a subset of Indra. The characteristics are Balance, Protection and Intellectual mainly. From these others characteristics of Vishnu can be derived like Equality, Safety, etc. The Intellectual part is an Indra-Agni entity and Vishnu inherits this property from Indra. When I discuss the Maruts, you will be able to understand Agni's Love characteristic. And so being Intellectual is a form of Love inherited by Vishnu. This is inherited through Indra's association with Agni. A friend's brother is a friend too. In my earlier posts I mention Balance as a characteristic of Indra and used it in explaining the Brotherhood of Indra and Agni. That character actually belongs to the subset Vishnu. With the friendship of Indra and Vishnu, it works marvels and this is called Heaven. From the description given so far Vishnu defines the individuality of an entity. Things that define it as Intellectual, ensures Safety of its kind and creates a Balance. Without Vishnu Indra represents Illusion, Shallow Mindedness, Tit-for-Tat, etc. Somehow discussing Vishnu sounds incomplete without discussing Lakshmi. So let me run through Lakshmi discussion first.

LAKSHMI, THE CONSORT OF VISHNU:

Lakshmi is a feminine goddess of abundance. So far we have been discussing Deities with masculine form, except for Prithvi. So let me give you a hint about characterizing the gender of Deities. The Vedas characterize singular controllability as masculine and multiple controllability as feminine. So anything that represents handling multiple things at the same time is feminine. Since they represent multiple handling, they are usually considered the centre of a system, like the Sun, which according to the Vedas is multiple Agni's. However Surya(Sun) is often denoted as masculine and there is a reason for that I'll get to later. Surya also has a feminine character. Being the centre, females usually stay in one place and expect others to approach them. They like being the centre of attraction and so if beauty ensures that attraction, they work on it more. So if you are wondering why your sister, mother or wife has so many make-up kits, here's the reason. Beauty is always associated with feminine. Therefore you should never tell a girl by mistake that she's ugly. Lakshmi represents abundance in multiple aspects. When one has such thing, they will always be happy creating no room for evils like greed, jealousy, anxiety, anger, etc, because they have nothing to loose. Hence the best cure for these evils is Lakshmi, i.e. believing you have "everything"(multiple- feminine) you need to be human in "abundance" and not in just one thing. Through this thought you can ensure the Safety(Vishnu) of others and yourself. Many Gurujis in India and all over the world say the same thing. They always tell you to evaluate all the gifts(Lakshmi) that are already given to you. Whatever is {given or not given to you has a reason}(Rudra-Vayu entity) sufficient enough to do what you were born to do. Nothing more, nothing less. That makes you unique and it defines your Individuality.

Protection(Vishnu) works only when {all possible angles are covered abundantly}(Lakshmi). It requires Intellectuality(Vishnu) in Multiple Fields(Lakshmi). That's why creating Safety Rules is usually not an easy task. One has to think in all possible ways not once, not twice but a million times to come up with a really strong Safety Rule/Law. It's called having Survival(Vishnu) Instincts. When every possible angle is blocked for you, you loose your Individuality, i.e. whatever defines you to be human. And the person doing this to you will be taken care of accordingly to ensure your Safety. Safety rules only make sense if there exists abundance of that particular entity that are interacting. The interaction can happen in multiple ways and all have to covered.

Lakshmi as a single entity can represent abundance of beauty also. Possessing such an entity improves Intellectuality. This is because since you have everything you need to enjoy, you spend more time(Soma) in developing yourself(Indra). I introduced this to address an important issue I will discuss in my next paragraph.

I kind of struggled to explain the Islam matter in this post without including the all the Deities involved in the explanation. What I'm going to discuss now is very important but it comes from evaluating the behaviour of the Deities in the issue. Many people today feel that Islam is being a menace to humanity and those who read the Quran become monsters. The problem lies with the people and not the book. Let's first get to the inception of Islam. Ever since mankind became arrogant many Divine Spirits had taken birth to set mankind in the right path by getting down to their level of intellect. This arrogance originated from Lanka and spread all over the world as time passed. If you are a person from Sri Lanka and you read this, I feel sorry about it but you will understand what I'm talking about. This arrogance was somehow controlled by the people themselves in most parts of the world except in the Arabian Peninsula. Nature did that. Most parts of the world had beauty in Nature with colorful mountains, plants trees, beautiful lakes, rivers and falls. The breath-taking beauty in these parts played a vital role in making mankind happy and delightful. The arrogance was controlled by Nature itself. The people in the Arabian Peninsula did not have that. It was plain sand and only sand. Only one thing. This region was devoid of the beauty the other parts of the world had. And so the arrogance wasn't controlled here. So if a man saw a beautiful looking girl or lady, he would go ahead to grab her for himself. He would grab as many as he could. Such things were very minimal in the other parts of the world. If a man saw a beautiful girl or lady, he was able to control his arrogant emotions. Prophet Muhammed took birth in the Arabian Peninsula to set these people in the right path. He realized what his people lacked and went down to their level of intellect. The idea of the burqa was to control the men. The Quran works only for people living in the Arabian Peninsula because the Nature there is completely different from the other parts of the world. The Prophet didn't say that a man can have four wives just like that. He said, if the man was growing many orphans personally he could have a maximum of four wives only to mother the orphans. Much of the Prophets language was to interest his people to follow the right path. The use of many virgins was probably to interest them. He also talked about the desert transforming into green beauty. I'm not sure whether he marked this as the end of Islam. But I think what he really tried to say was that once the desert is transformed to be beautiful, mankind's intellectuality should increase and much of things he said should be neglected. By Nature's grace, the Arabian Peninsula is now very rich because of the crude oil reserves they have. It is transforming into a beautiful region and now the intellect of the people is increasing. At this time the Quran can definitely add poison to the developing minds. The Quran should be rescrutinized to find out what can be neglected.

Another important thing people should change from is fighting about what name to call the Supreme Spirit. It's becoming ridiculous especially in this age of scientific development. They should understand that its just a name. It's like car in English is gaadi in Hindi, vandi in Tamil, sayara in Arabic. Now just because someone doesn't call it sayara, he/she doesn't become an infidel.

Now that you somewhat exposed to Rudra, my next post will be about it. After Rudra I will talk about the Maruts and many things will become comprehensible to you.

Soma

There's a lot more we can deduce from the Deity relations. They can lead us to deeper scientific thoughts. But the mind has to trained well to use them effectively. Since Vedas has been part of religion for so long, and as I mentioned earlier about the science of benevolent living, I'll stick to such types of discussions mainly. According to me religion is dirty and it needs to be cleaned up. It is actually the first thing that has to be cleaned up before anything else, even before cleaning up politics, because they are the set of rules people live by as they grow. Yes... since it's something that grows(Agni- learning/consumption) you, it can really define your character. So if it's dirty, you'll become the same. Somehow religion has convinced us that there exist two imaginary worlds, one above us where Gods live in cloudy like places and the other is below us where Demons live with fire and snakes. Well if you think about it, its actually true that there are clouds above us and fire below us. Snakes???... I'm not so sure about... People long ago were poetic and dramatic about everything... They related thoughts with natural elements or with things we experience daily just to convey us their message... Actually thinking that's how things literally are is quite unacceptable... and that's what has happened over time... well to be honest, there was a point of time in the Earth's history that turned mankind to be arrogant, greedy, jealous, dishonest, etc... mankind was never as such before... mankind divided itself and manipulated thoughts to their communities so that they have different beliefs from others and remain separate... it is this that has caused all the havoc and confusion which was not allowed to be questioned... they were supposed to believe it whether it made sense or not... if it didn't they were told to make sense out of it(the senseless). Simple example... just a few decades ago, people in India were burning widows with their dead husbands alive because somewhere in the Vedas it said that the wife burns with her dead husband... they literally thought that was supposed to be done for real, missing its poetic or dramatic flavour... now its no more because India has progressed scientifically over the years... I'll explain that particular notion when somewhere in my blog I feel I have covered enough material to explain it... I believe in step by step learning so that the person reading this blog can fully understand the concepts I explain from the Vedas. I will not make the same mistake that was done earlier. If there's something I don't understand, you won't find it in my blog, and I will not convince you to believe in it... I will not create imaginary worlds for you and so do the Vedas...

SOMA:

Soma is depicted as the drink of the Gods/Deities. So now we are talking about materials that are consumed. Well now that we know that any object(Prithvi) has life(Agni) and can consume(Agni) from its environment(Dyava), that particular material it consumes is Soma. This Soma can be humans in a Customer Service Centre or cars moving on different lanes of a road. Whatever you are modelling, the material that enters the body(Prithvi) from outside(Dyava) is the Soma. The next thing we do is to specify amounts and how they are distributed or moved about (Vayu). Now we are talking numbers... a very important thing for scientific discoveries as well. So when we have parameters(Deities) in a system or equation, they take in numbers/values(Soma) and that decides it's response. So just like numbers are important in science, the Soma concept is also important in Vedic ideologies.

The Vedas describe Indra and Agni as the two main lovers of Soma. And Indra loves Soma more that Agni. If we put Soma as eatable food, this idea will make sense immediately. As living beings(Agni), the idea of sustenance(Indra) leads us to look for food(Soma) to eat. This is depicted in the Vedas as Indra taking in Soma to defeat Vrtra(drought). When we talk about drought, we talk about drought in we need and we take action to balance(Indra) it out. We can translate(Agni) this to learn(Agni): If one feels stressed(drought in happiness), he/she should look for things or people they love to make them happy(balance out the drought in happiness).

[Note: if there's any word that falls under a Deity we have come across so far I will mention it in a WORD(DEITY) format to help you see the Deities in play in my language.]

So Soma can represent expendable things also. We saw it as food, we can see it as money or we can see it as time or space. Any substance that makes things happen. Well the idea "Time is Money" seems to be evident here. It depends if you want that to be the equation of your life. So let's talk about time. The biggest Soma that is given to us. It has limits(Indra) and that defines our existence(Indra). A really smart(Agni) person will try to utilize/spend this to develop himself/herself(Indra) and his/her close associates, like relations/family. You will be wasting that significant time(Soma) if you spend that on destroying another person's life because of jealousy or he/she didn't comply to your thoughts. Time as Soma with Agni as its lover, every second of that time(Soma) gets converted(Agni) by what you do. This will be evident when I get to the Maruts. And it never comes back, i.e. it can't be reused. Much like scrap material left over after production in a factory or the shit you dump in the toilet. To reuse(Indra) that you will need another converter/living thing/life(Agni) to convert that to something useful or good for consumption(Agni). Need another life? It explains the karma concept. So most of what happens in our life is to convert the bad things we did in our previous lives to good things that are useful for salvation. That happens only if you feel you have to correct the mistakes you made. So you will get shit in your next life to balance(Indra- reuse) out the shit you gave in the previous life. Now this doesn't mean that you should wait for your next life to correct your mistakes. All you need to do is realize your mistake and take the pain/shit to correct it to balance it out. When it gets balanced(Indra) out you got your new life. This is what Jesus said exactly. Repent and you will be forgiven. The repenting part is the part where you take corrective measures. It's obvious. You can't say you repented unless you have done something to correct it. The whole point of repenting is to feel the pain you caused on the other person. Same thing happens in work. You make a mistake, who takes the responsibility of correcting it. It's you. And then there are consequences which you will have to take care of as well and once the balance is made, you will not have to worry about it anymore and you can live your new life. The new life is what you get when you are forgiven.

I had to come to Soma to explain this because without this concept explained, I couldn't have explained the value of time(Soma) for life(Agni). Again here to balance(Indra) out the mistake to need to spend time(Soma) for it. Now without discussing Vishnu, I can't make further comments on this matter. Therefore my next post will be about Vishnu. Vishnu is yet another very important Vedic Deity and it is the basis of Hinduism.

Vayu

Once we know the details about most of the Vedic Deities, or atleast the ones mentioned in the website http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/vedaread.htm, we can started playing around with them to discuss topics we have pondered about for long and have a vague or no answer to them, for example those of spiritual context. And it will not be difficult because being humans we understand humans well and we can make clear thoughts on the concerned topic. We can also discuss serious scientific notions by playing around with them and they can help direct discoveries... an example of this (it may not be a strong one but just to give you hints) we encountered in the previous post that to set something in a cyclic motion, an external force was required... scientists today believe that our Earth(Prithvi) was set into rotational motion(Indra) by some external object(Dyava) that rammed into it. That remains of that ramming formed our Moon(Chandra). And so we have Day(Usas) and Night(Ratri). If we understand the associations between these Deities and clearly from the contents of the Rig Veda we can be sure that the theory is correct. If there is a mutual correlation between Vedic deductions and scientific theories, we can then use the Vedic deductions to extrapolate theories further to aid the investigation. This was something I came across recently through the "The Universe" TV series and their final theory, which was directed to understanding the formation of the Moon, explained the rotation of the Earth which sparked the Prithvi-Dyava concept I knew about. Could there be a correlation? Right now I don't know because I haven't read the Rig Veda completely. Or I'm not sure if I would find it in the Rig Veda. May be it's in the Yajur Veda or Sama Veda. It's a long way to go.

So now let me give you an idea of what might be there in the contents of the Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharvana Vedas. To explain this let me talk about a simple example. Let's go with language for example. When we start learning a language, we first learn all the alphabets. These are like the contents of the Rig Veda. Instead of the alphabets, it's the Deities. Then we learn how to use the alphabets to spell words. These are the contents of the Yajur Veda. So it talks about connecting the different Deities and what they behave like. Next we learn how to use these words to form a complete sentence. These are the contents of the Sama Veda. They talk about connecting the various combinations in a particular sequence(song) to get a desired behavior. Finally we learn how use sentences to construct an essay. These are the contents of the Atharvana Veda. So now imagine what could this be? The whole notion of magic and counter-magic might be evident here. It actually represents the different stages of training. It can be any field... Chemistry, Microelectronics, Economics, Coding,... anything.

So just like every other science, Vedic science can be simulated and you can accomplish whatever you desire to accomplish if done correctly... Hey, industries sometimes come up with faulty products.

VAYU:

Vayu represents Wind. When we think of Wind, we immediately think movement of something... leaves, trees, etc. So what is movement. It's a change in position. Or change in the current state. This is a very important concept because many things in nature are subject to change. And we call them the dynamics of that particular thing. Now if something has to change, it has must have a purpose for that change. A kind of reason of existence in the new state. It's like this, say you made something, a clay pot. You definitely "changed" mud into clay to make that clay pot. So you "changed" mud into clay for a "reason" or "purpose", otherwise why would you do it. You definitely don't want to waste time doing something that's of no use. Unless you are bored and you don't know what to do... you make or do things of no "purpose" or "reason". But then you "change" your state from being a lousy lazy bugger to being a busy person doing something just to kill time. The "purpose" for that "change" was to kill time. So to have a "purpose" is to have a "change" in something.

So now let's get into the brotherly relation of Vayu with Agni and Indra. We already encountered the brotherhood of Agni and Indra.

BROTHERHOOD OF VAYU AND AGNI:

Vayu and Agni have a very strong relation. So strong that they face each other in the Vaastu Chart. The Vaastu Chart is a very interesting chart used today for placing the household. But it's not only that. It can be about daily clerical activities, or a sequence or stages of building or doing something new. When translated to Human lifetime cycle, it can tell something about the different Yugas. I will definitely post details about it in my blog once I have covered all the Deities that participate in it. So let's get to it. When something "changes" or "moves" we say it has "life". Have seen those scenes where they try to bring back an unconscious guy back life. How do they know the he/she is back to life? A slight "movement" he/she makes tells them that. When you "learn" something, "change" happens... the whole point of education is to "change" you from an illiterate idiot to a wise person... that's the ideal case... most of us become wiser idiots instead but still a "change" happened from illiterate idiot to a wise idiot... the level of idiocity "changed"... To Neural Engineers this would be immediately understood because according to them only when the weights "change" they say "learning" has occurred. A simple way to understand this, when something "changes" from a known state we "learn" that something has happened. "Conversion" is a "change" of state. "Sacrifices" are "changes" you make to yourself. "Conversion", "Learning", "Consumption" and "Sacrifices" must have a "Reason" or "Purpose"... We can also extrapolate from this brotherhood of Vayu and Agni that "Life" should also have a "Purpose" or "Reason" for existence.

BROTHERHOOD OF VAYU AND INDRA:

This brotherhood is not so strong as like Agni-Indra or Agni-Vayu. Agni actually stands as a mediator between the two and that makes the brotherhood of Vayu and Indra senseless without Agni. The only things we can make without Agni are that "change" or "movement/motion" can happen in "cyclic" fashions, when "change" happens "balance" should be maintained and "purpose" must be some "closed" "reason", like you are doing it because its required and a "balance" is met.

BROTHERHOOD OF AGNI, INDRA AND VAYU:

This is by far an interesting combination. It actually gives the definition of being Intellectual. It can be made as follows. Being intellectual means "learning" by making "changes" "by yourself". Artificial Intelligence is designed on this basis. If you can get your robot to "learn" and make "changes" "by itself", we say it's intelligent. Also when something "moves" "by itself" we say it has "life". So to have "life" means to be intellectual. All "life" forms are intellectual and so its absurd to categorize animals as unintellectual. They all have a "purpose" which we may not know immediately just by looking at them(Indra - Illusion). Let me add one more thing about Indra. Since almost everything exists in a closed loop fashion or form, we can include "existence" and "form" in Indra. So to "exist" it must have a "form", a "closed loop form". The notion is simple. If I give you a blank piece of paper and tell you to show me any markings on it, you won't be able to do so because it's blank. Whereas if I put a small dot mark on that blank paper and tell you to spot it, you will be able to. Your brain sees it as some "closed loop form" to allow you to say that there "exists" a marking. I can draw a line and still your brain will see it as a "closed loop form" to say that it "exists". So to keep in mind that these Vedic concepts "exist", the Indians gave them "form" or "converted" them into "forms" and "life". These "life" "forms" where treated as intellectual beings in human "form" to specify their level of intellectualism, because they aid in intellectual thinking for humans(Humans prefer to learn from a human teacher).

VAYU AS THE SON OF PRITHVI-DYAVA:

In the previous post we encountered a simple explanation of Vayu's relation with Prithvi-Dyava as their son. Now that we know a few more details about Vayu we can go further. There should exist atleast two states an object can be in to expect a "change" between them. There should exist atleast two distinctive positions for an object to "move" from one position to another. Unless there exists a destiny from where you started, you don't have a "purpose".

THE FAMILY(PRITHVI-DYAVA, AGNI, INDRA AND VAYU):

Now this just adds the Object-Environment attribute to the discussion we made under the Brotherhood of Agni, Indra and Vayu. Therefore to remain intellectual, the entity under consideration should always take inputs or "consume/learn" from its environment and "change" "itself" accordingly. The amount "consumed/learned" decides how much "change" is done to "itself" according to the environment. If a good amount is "consumed/learned", the entity still keeps it's original or previous "form" but now with new or more ingredients. Absolutely "consuming/learning" nothing can kill it eventually and it will become dead. We just encountered in the brotherhood of Indra and Agni that "consuming" occurs for "sustenance". "Learning" keeps that entity "alive". "Learning" nothing, i.e. not willing to make any "changes" to "itself", makes what it already knows dead or out-dated/obsolete. And removes the "purpose" of keeping it "alive". Religion, today, is something that doesn't "learn" anything from the environment at all. Whatever was established say 2000-5000 years ago still remains like that. So it's actually dead and is adding more filth to the current environment. This concept of becoming dead comes from the Vedic concept Yama. As you know whatever is "learned/consumed", the entity gets its qualities. You become what you "learn". So when people "learn" dead entities such as religion, they become dead minded people. And they add filth to current "learning" developments of their environment. Now "consuming/learning" too much, i.e. making too many "changes" on "itself", in one go from the environment can totally change the entity's original or previous "form". Its an ugly thing and it makes the entity ugly since it lost its original "form". Losing original form is like losing individuality and this individuality concept comes from Vishnu. After I give a discussion about Vishnu, it will become clear. According to Neural Engineers, these are the effects of large learning coefficients. The desired solution takes longer to reach or is never reached and the whole "purpose" of "learning" goes waste because the problem, the entity here, has lost "shape". So "learning/consuming" from the environment should have a good "limit" to keep you in good "shape/form".

Now that I have spoken about amounts, my next post will be about Soma. Soma is in fact a very popular Vedic Deity. Its so popular that whenever someone thinks of the Vedas, they never miss to think about Soma. In the Vedas, Soma is a very important concept. So before I go further into explaining the remaining Deities/Concepts, let me introduce Soma first.

Prithvi-Dyava

In my last post we saw the togetherness of Indra and Agni. A mysterious connection between some cyclic nature with the properties of fire. All that is needed later on is to try to use them in any field of interest. For example you can debate for yourselves whether practical learning is better than theoretical learning. The use of these concepts can help you find the answer. You will realize that for subjects that require skill, practical learning is better while for those that don't require skill, theoretical learning is better. When you enter the Corporate World, your colleagues require you to do something and that requires skill. Hence it is best to engage in practical learning to blend well with the Corporate World. In the case of subject matters like the one in this blog, theoretical learning works. But to apply it practically, the reader will require practical assignments "to try for himself/herself". "Trying for yourself"... it's actually a good way of "learning" that can be deduced from the Indra-Agni relationship. Meditation works in the same way. When I began to learn these concepts, I went through two sources that explained in brief about the Deities. They were the book on "Indian Mythology" by Veronica Ions and the website I gave you earlier, http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/vedaread.htm and I "tried to make out for myself" what they were talking about. I didn't go straight to the texts because it was even more confusing. But after I "learned" the connections and ideology well "by myself", the texts started making sense. So far I have worked on ten stanzas of the First Book of the Rig Veda successfully. It's still very tedious because of the language.

PRITHVI-DYAVA:

In Sanskrit this means Earth-Sky. Looks like we getting into the Universe now. Well... not exactly. It does start changing your perspective a little bit. When I introduced Agni(Fire), it was just something we learned through one of the natural elements. But the concept I'm going to talk about will give you an idea how to visualize Vedic ideology. This Earth-Sky combination can be visualized in general as an Object-Environment combination. A good modeling technique. Good for modeling Vedic ideologies as well.

We know well that the Earth gets its inputs from the Sky. Being on Earth, we get Sunlight, Heat, Rain, Oxygen, etc that all come from the Sky as inputs for our well-being. So in our Object-Environment generalization, the object gets its inputs from the environment. Inputs can also come from the Object/Earth but they take their route via the Environment/Sky. In return, the Object/Earth also gives back to the Environment/Sky. This can be drawn as an object that takes inputs and gives outputs. Sounds like a block diagram representation of something. These sort of representations do help a lot in understanding mechanisms or concepts. This is why simulation tools are built in almost every scientific field, because looking at mathematical equations doesn't always give a clear picture. Numbers always give clear pictures. Vedic understanding also happens in the same way. We too can build simulation tools for it once the concepts are clear and we know how to evaluate them on the number line.

Now let's get to the Indra-Agni relation where both of them are the sons of Prithvi-Dyava.

BIRTH OF AGNI:

The Vedic scriptures describe the birth of Agni through two objects. It's always two objects. They need to rub against each other to give birth to Agni(Fire). Some sort of Frictional Force. Out of the two objects, one of them is considered to be the Prithvi(Earth) and the other as Dyava(Sky). Since there is no other combination of masculine and feminine as such described in the Vedas, whenever two entities are "coupled" together to form another, the coupling entities are considered as Prithvi-Dyava combination. Here, the Earth is feminine while the Sky is masculine. Now let's look into this further. Let's put the Outside Environment as another object and "couple" it with the Object under consideration. Only if the two exist, the Object under consideration can take inputs. Another way of saying this, only if the two exist, the Object under consideration can "consume" something from its Environment. The same thing happens with "learning". "Learning" is actually a "consumption" of knowledge. "Sacrifices" are made only after viewing certain "external" events that affect the sacrificer. "Conversion" can only take place when there are atleast two things. For example, Steam comes from Water and Heat. Or Ice comes from Water and Chillness. Or Clean Water comes from Dirty Water and a Filter. This end-product of "conversion" is an extension of the Smoke giving aspect of Fire. I didn't cover this while explaining Agni because it required the understanding of Prithvi-Dyava.

BIRTH OF INDRA:

Just like Agni, Indra also requires two things (Prithvi-Dyava) to create it. It requires some "external" force to set an "object" into a "cyclic" motion. "External" forces don't necessarily set "objects" into cyclic motion but also to non-cyclic motion. Non-cyclic motions come under the Vayu concept which I will cover in my next post. Vayu is also a son of Prithvi-Dyava and it explains Newton's First Law of Motion, the Law of Inertia. Let's do more. "Balance" is always mentioned when there are atleast two things. It requires "coupling" of two points of a line to make a "closed loop" or a "circle".

When I explain Vayu, I will give the complete relation between Prithvi-Dyava, Agni, Indra and Vayu.

Brotherhood of Indra and Agni

Like I said in one of my previous posts that the general concepts are webbed together. They are linked through some sort of relation or they just work together. Those that have a relation can tell something about how family relationships work. In this post we will see that there is a mutual companionship between Indra and Agni that defines there brotherly relation. Likewise, Rudra gives insights to the role of a father. The Soma-Chandra combination gives insights to the role of a mother. The Maruts give insights to the role of a child. Prithvi-Dyaus combination gives insights of how the mother and father should work together. These insights are ideal models. If the environment doesn't favor the ideal model, they can be changed to maintain balance between all members.

Indra and Agni are two totally different concepts like we just saw. You can imagine them to be two beings with totally different characteristics. But they have a mutual companionship and are always together. The being together part doesn't actually define their brotherly relation. It's just one of the things. The main thing is that they shoulder each other like best buddies, but at another step beyond. The Vedas also claim that they are the sons of Prithvi and Dyaus, i.e. The Earth and The Sky, and that actually gives them the brotherly relation.

If I were to pick the eldest one (from the explanations I've given so far about both) I would go for Agni. I still have to find out whether the Vedas make the same claim. But with the Vedic knowledge I have gained so far, I believe I might be right in the choice. But remember it's just my opinion. If I find that the Vedas have the opposite claim, I will think over it and then mention the explanation later in my blog.

So let's work through their brotherly relation. In the previous post we patched the "learning" aspect of Agni with the "cyclic" aspect of Indra and we figured out that learning can use some sort of feedback. Let's do more. All "living" things have a "form" that follows a closed loop fashion. Living things "consume" for "sustenance". "Sacrifice" is something that "one does to itself". The total amount of "converted" material equals to the total amount of material used for conversion. That's a "balance" and it sounds like the Law of Conservation of Energy. If there exists a conversion gain, then that sets the "limit". "Balance" can be made only when there is a mutual/bidirectional "conversion" capability, like the animal-plant take in and give out. Between Oxygen and Carbon-Dioxide. So all "cycles" have multiple "conversions" that finally give back the starting material. The same thing happens in mathematics. Most of the theorems postulated have a converse theorem to make it intact. Some don't have converse theorems because they cannot be proved. Now let me get to this.

If the conversion is bidirectional/reversible, there is a balance and let's call these Indra processes. If the conversion is not reversible, then there is a one way conversion, we can call these Agni processes. Why? Because whatever material was used for the conversion remained in the converted state, like it just got "eaten". An example of this is the recent economic downturn which was due to an Agni process. Money was spent on immovable assets that didn't bring back money because of the uncontrolled mortgage and housing loan plans. All the money got "eaten" by construction of the immovable assets. So over here we see that Indra processes create sustainability or balance while Agni processes create imbalances. A sort of contradicting behavior between brothers. Although imbalance may sound like a menace, it's sometimes a good thing, like for growth. Growth happens when something accumulates. That's how "living" things grow. So now we have one more keyword for Agni, "growth". "Learning" is "growth" of maturity. "Sacrifice" is also a "growth" of maturity. "Consumption" is done for "growth". "Conversion" ensures "growth" of something. Indra processes do not ensure growth. In the political scenario, Indra processes sound like tit-for-tat behaviors that never ends, much like how a "cycle" can keep rolling. To stop the cycle from rolling you will need an Agni process. So if peace had to made between two rival nations, one of them has to stop. If the other one still insists, then the sovereignty of that nation can be removed, for the one reason that it's being a menace. The nation that stopped, will be taken care of for it's loss. The same thing happens in life. If someone keeps beating you, you become an asset while the other one becomes a liability. It's a "balance". There were and still are living examples of this. Every celebrated figure went through tremendous amount of suffering to reach that level. It's something that nature does to maintain balance. This idea can be an extension of the Law of Conservation of Energy and so there is also a "balance" during an Agni process.

So far we have visualized the togetherness of Indra and Agni. We will talk more about this in my next post after I explain the Prithvi-Dyaus concept. The brotherly relation between Indra and Agni will become more intact.

The Rig Veda is said to be composed in such Cyclic fashion called Mandals. There are ten volumes for the Rig Veda and each volume is a mandal. I guess it was written in this fashion to make the concepts, when taught, well intact.

Indra

Its amazing what we can learn out of a simple thing called Fire. The something we see everyday but it never crossed our minds on what it could convey to us. During my Vedic research, and even till today, I find that many other Deities/Dynamics/Mechanisms, whatever you may call them, really do have Agni as their basis which allows them to be converted to living things. It also actually looks like everything leads to Agni. A very Zorastrian thought but true in nature. Agni seems to the central point of attraction, like a feminine surrounded by men who admire her beauty. The Egyptian texts have in fact depicted their Agni counterpart, Shu, as feminine. Well, the Egyptians too new about this commonality and I was amazed at the correlation between Vedic Ideology and the Egyptian Ideology. The Egyptians too converted all dynamics into living things and explained concepts in a dramatic style. At some point in my blog, I will definitely post a tour of the Egyptian Sacred Texts. I'm hoping to find the same in the Greek Mythological Texts and once I do I will post a tour of it probably right after the Egyptians. And if I do the same for the Sumerian Texts of Mesopotamia also, we will complete the Alexandrian Empire.

INDRA:

The Rig Veda describes Indra to be the one who joins two ends to make a cycle. And so they termed him as the Thunderbolt Bearer. Thunder... something that signifies that there is going to be a good amount of rain. Rain is something that connects the sky to the ground and whatever amount of water evaporated from the ocean falls back there. Geologists call this the Water "Cycle". Everything is a cycle in nature. There is also a nitrogen cycle. It ensures sustainability. So if you have to sustain life, we need a cycle. Don't we? We breathe in oxygen and let out carbon-dioxide which the plants take in and let out oxygen for us. It's a balance between the "want" factor. We want oxygen and they want carbon-dioxide, and we give each other what we want in return for getting what we want. Balance... another reason why a cycle is meant for. We can definitely break down the meaning like this, "If someone slaps your left cheek, you don't slap his right cheek, you slap his left cheek because its easier to do so since the other guy's hand isn't in the way already".

Making two ends meet is like drawing any closed loop or shape. It define the shape as a single separate entity. Our body structure for example is a closed loop. Have you ever seen those crime scenes where the the police draws on the floor a neat drawing of the awkward position the victim died? There's a closed loop there. Have you ever heard of closed loop integrals in mathematics or physics? It's the same idea. If you think deeper, even light and sound, or lightning and thunder, (just to conform with Indra in our discussion) are cyclic in nature. They only differ in frequency. You can come across the common spectrum chart that shows from audible frequencies to radio frequencies to the visible spectrum to the non visible spectrum or may be the heat spectrum (infrared and ultraviolet) to the dangerous spectrum. Everything is cyclic or in some form of closed loop.

If you are an electrical engineer, you would have heard the Kirchoff's Voltage Law that says sum of all voltages in a "closed loop" equal to zero. Zero... that signifies a "balance". For the non electrical engineers, that's the same as saying that if a beaker has a 1 ml capacity, you can pour different liquids in it uptil the 1 ml limit, but it should be filled completely. The difference between the total amount of liquid and the maximum capacity become zero. So the "balance" factor creates limits of what can be done... limits mean its bounded or there are boundaries to the solution... boundaries are closely associated with closed loop structures. If I had to draw this, I will draw a circle (which is in the shape of a "cycle"), draw three lines from the center to show three different parameters for example, and draw a new set of boundaries and still get a closed loop structure.

You might have noticed by now that even time is cyclic. The whole purpose of the clock is to serve that. Propagation or communication also occurs in rings that "circular" in nature. Music also follows a cycle. Ask a musician, he/she will tell you that if a composition starts from one harmonic set, it ends in the same harmonic set to make sure it sounds complete. That also suggests that the music of our speech follows the same thing. The Rig Veda actually describes this as everything following in a cyclic manner by saying that Indra rules everything. May be not at the time of creation, but only in the end when he eventually rules everything. So the fact is everything follows the cycle or a closed loop fashion and is not a cycle or a closed loop fashion and so the sacrificing part doesn't belong to Indra. Remember I included the fashion part with closed loop. So it redefines things to follow a closed loop fashion. So since the sacrificing part is not a property of Indra, this suggests that real learning cannot happen by just looking at how things look like. This sort of learning, if in case it occurs, is "bounded" and doesn't show you anything beyond it. Therefore illusion is an aspect of Indra. Indra as a ruler doesn't want show you everything, just like a ruler of any country who tries to create an illusion to the public about his/her actions and motives.

So if ancient texts talk about someone uprooting Indra or defeating Indra, it means that someone became an expert in illusionary craftsmenship. Indrajeet... Indian Mythology says he was the first one to master illusionary crafts.

There's another interesting thing the Vedas talk about. It is the relation of Indra as Agni's brother. I will dedicate my next post to explaining this relationship in detail. For now to give you a hint, we can understand this relationship by just taking one of the characteristics of each one and see how they are linked. Let's take the "learning" aspect of Agni and the "cyclic" aspect of Indra. It suggests that learning can happen through some sort of feedback. Hmmmmm... I gave an example of a chemical analysis in my previous post. The chemist "gives" the chemical compound a test compound, which reacts to it and turns red in color. This is "seen" by the chemist and he/she "infers" that the chemical compound is a sugar-based compound. Neural engineers would have understood this immediately. They call learning through feedback as unsupervised learning. Commercial industries use customer feedback to learn how their products reach their customers. It definitely can't tell them everything, but its a start. Just like how learning starts. The apple fell on Newton's head which didn't tell him everything immediately about why the apple fell down and why it didn't go up. But it was a start for him. He delved deeper and found the real reason.

Therefore looking at how things look like is just a start. Delving deeper can tell you a lot more of the matter and the real reason of why it existed. A good way of saying this: "avoid prejudice"... it can save you from a lot of trouble. Relying on Indra can lead you into trouble... which is why most Puranas depict Indra as a trouble-maker.

Agni

So I found something that talked about what I was looking for. I'm not the only person in this world who realized such a thing. Our ancestors too new about it and they used it in their daily lives.

All these general concepts are actually webbed together. So in order to understand one completely, you need to understand the others completely. That leaves you wondering where to actually start from. Its like finding a starting point in a circle or any closed loop. Anything can be a starting point and you can go in any direction or path. You will still learn the same stuff.

The Rig Veda starts with Agni and so I will also start from there. But I might take a different path than the Rig Veda and guide through my way of understanding.

AGNI:

Agni means Fire. This concept is by far the most easiest concept to understand because we know Fire well, what it is like and what it can do. We just need to look beyond what we already know.

The most important aspect of Fire is its attribute of consuming something to give out something else useful. We know that Fire consumes wood, oil-based liquids, certain gaseous substances to give out light, heat and smoke which are useful. Scientifically any substance that is subjected to its ignition temperature exhibits this property. What we are interested in is the property. Living thing also do the same thing. Don't they? Every living thing consumes something to give out something else useful. Plants consume Water, Carbon Dioxide and Sunlight to create or give out glucose useful for the plant to survive. Animals consume plants or other animals to give out all forms of energy useful to them for survival as well as waste that will be useful for the soil. What actually happens is conversion. Producing something out of something else is called conversion. So life forms do some sort of conversion.

The above diagram shows a block diagram depiction of a conversion process. Another aspect of Fire is the light giving part. Light gives us the ability to perceive things. We know its much easier to find things when there is light than when it is dark. This aspect of Fire was put to common use by all civilizations and still it is used today. Since light is associated with perceptibility, and perceptibility is an aspect of learning, light can also be associated with learning which is in fact true. We all know that a good amount of lighting is required for studying purposes. Words like "Enlighten" or phrases like "Throw Light" follow from this.

Now we have Agni being broken down into "Life Form", "Conversion" and "Learning". All these three are inter-associated. It actually provides clarity that when "learning", you can "convert" the physics of a system under consideration to and comprehensible model to gain insights of it. Also relating or "converting" the concepts into "life forms" enhances better understanding.

Chemists use this Agni concept a lot when analyzing a compound. I remember in chemistry lab, when I put a drop of some chemical on the chemical liquid under analysis, the colorless liquid turned into a red liquid signifying that it was some sort of sugar-based liquid. Here the colorless liquid turned into or got "converted" to red color liquid that aided visual perception of the contents in the sample. In fact all sciences depend on the Agni concept for development.

Now imagine if there was no such thing as "conversion". It will mean that there will be only one thing and one thing only. The earth wouldn't have had its splendor of variety in color and texture. There wouldn't be rivers, mountains, trees, etc. There would just be rock and only rock and no "life". The Rig Veda goes ahead to say that Agni is the basis of everything in this world right from the Creation of the entire Universe. Agni, according to the Vedas, made a sacrifice for the creation of the Universe and so its quality became the basis of everything. I will explain later in my blog the whole governing mechanism of sacrifice. At this point it is beyond the scope of understanding so far. For now just learn that when something makes a sacrifice for something, the former becomes the basis for the latter. In war, when the soldiers sacrifice their lives to protect their country, their patriotic quality becomes the basis of cultural development of that country. Hence sacrifice is something you should be very careful about. Sacrificing wrong things may lead you into big trouble. Another simple example, living things obtain the qualities of the food they consume. Scientifically, whatever contents were there in the food get possessed by the consuming body. So if the food had Beta-Carotene in it, the consumer would get the same and the Beta-Carotene would maintain its eye sight.

Sacrifice is actually a quality of Agni also. This quality is an extension of the heat giving aspect of Fire. Understanding this is again beyond the scope so far but I will explain later in my blog when I come to explaining the "Maruts". Metallurgical industries use Fire as the basis to manufacture metals with different properties. Here the main metal undergoes a sacrifice to be subjected to high temperatures that would disorient its original form to allow other metals and chemicals to be mixed with it to give it better properties/qualities. Similarly "learning" is also a "sacrifice". In order to learn you need to create room for other knowledge to blend/mix well with what you already know. So you undergo a "sacrifice", like sacrificing your ego that you know everything to loosen up what you already know, allowing room for more information. This is called being transparent, i.e. letting "light" pass through. "Learning" is an aspect of intelligence which is present in all "life forms".

So we have just figured out that "Life Forms", "Conversion", "Learning" and "Sacrifice" are inter-associated and this collective inter-association is termed by the Vedas as Agni/Fire.

Now a little more on the sacrifice part... if evil qualities exist in every human being, it actually means that at some point of time in the Earth's history, an evil human being committed a sacrifice. And all the evil qualities he had become a basis for mankind. To counter react against this, beings of supreme spirituality will also have to do the same. It's just like someone consuming a poisonous substance and then taking several antidotes to cure it. Why I made this point is to explain that sacrificing wrong things can lead you to big trouble which may take quite some time to cure.

The reader must understand that discussions of these general concepts can go beyond imagination and this blog cannot fit them all. So what I have explained so far in this post is not everything about Agni.

A note before starting

Now that we have some idea of what Vedic science is all about, the following posts will explain the general concepts that can be applied to any field. Be it discovering scientific truths or formulating a value based life, the concepts can help you. You have a freedom of choice. So this blog will not advise the reader on how to live a value based life or talk about deep scientific matters. Instead, the reader will be able to work it out on his/her own by plugging in the general concepts to see the outcomes for himself/herself.

During the period I was learning these concepts, I witnessed the utter cruelty of mankind. Although it's not supposed to seem to exist in my perspective, it does exist. A kind of ghostly parasite on my shoulders. Even right now, as I'm writing this blog, it exists. And it amazes me about how the planet's most intelligent species can behave utterly stupid. I was able to jot down on rough paper the whole scenario of the problem using the general concepts explained in the Vedic scriptures, and figured out that because all doors were closed at the critical moment of decision, the problem is now unsolvable. If the problem had to be solved, time travelling backwards will be required. And we all know that's impossible an this leaves the problem unsolvable at this current time frame. People are only worried most on how things are "supposed" to look. Blindfold belief in rumors. The sadistic pleasure of destroying another person's life as if that person doing it was going to be awarded a Nobel Prize for it.

Things are supposed to look like fantasies, we usually watch in movies. If it doesn't, believe me, the concerned people will go to any extent to make sure it is like that. Even if nature obstructs it!!! They will go against nature to bloody make sure that things are like their fantasies. And if it doesn't work out, they don't understand, so they do more and more damage. I'll tell you how this sounds like... just because a glass artifact didn't look like how you wanted it to look like, you break it. And now that it's broken and still doesn't look like the way you want it to look like, you break it more. And then you don't understand why it still doesn't look that way, and you break it even more and more and more... I'm not joking, I have witnessed this sort unruly, mindless behavior. Another problem with people is they want to blame someone for their mistakes. A very common problem. And so people have in fact woven religion to accommodated that. Make a mistake, blame the victim that because he/she didn't pray hard to God, that shit happened to him/her. We blame even God!!! Religion has actually pictured God to be MONSTER!!! And because of that if people feel like backing out of religion, they are tortured even more "in the name of religion"!!! What have we people become?

In the above video, you'll find a famous person's perspective of religion. It has frustrated him so much that he concludes not to believe in God. Well that's what we people have made it and so we can't blame him.

Now let me tell you about how I discovered this commonality in various fields I have been talking about in my previous posts. It happened during the summer of the year 2005 when I was doing my practice school during my undergraduate study in Dubai. Just in the previous semester, I had completed a course on Microprocessor Architecture and Programming. So now you know that I'm an Electrical Engineer. In my practice school, which was Rotopacking Materials LLC, they assigned my partner and I to do a complete ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) map of the entire company's operation and communication to enable them to use their new ERP package. As engineers, we had to learn right from the chemistry of printing and packing to the finance, marketing and sales to draw the complete map. Somehow while drawing this map, I felt that communication between the departments were acting like microprocessors that also perform acknowledging or handshaking. Each department had input pins and output pins and some of them were both. I'm not sure whether it was because of my obsession towards microprocessors that made me think like that, but all I remember doing was imagining that I was building a computer while drawing the map. That was when I realized that there exists some generality in everything. I thought that may be if I figured out the generality, I would be able to learn any field without any troubles. But it wasn't an easy task. In fact it was the most difficult task ever. I really found it difficult to enumerate the general concepts that work in every field. I did try and come up with something, but it wasn't a good model. Also being a Hindu, I was really interested to know more about the Vedas, which everyone talks great about. I found a website that had Max Muller's translation of the Vedic scriptures. If you want to know the website, here is it,

http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/index.htm
http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/vedaread.htm (Recommended if you are a beginner)

In the beginning I couldn't appreciate its greatness. It was just a bunch of explanations about natural calamities, and too many unfamiliar Gods with explanations that made no sense at all to me at that time. But I didn't leave it there. Being a Hindu, and from the so-called top class, Brahmin cast, Vedic chanting was part of my life. I always used to wonder which senseless natural calamity am I chanting right now. I never could ask anyone my biggest doubt because it wouldn't have been encouraged in the first place. I kept recollecting the descriptions in the website to make sense out of it during my free time. During my undergraduate life, quite a number of things went against me. Ugly rumors were spread by my own batchmates who were so interested in damaging my name completely to the entire college. It was something I couldn't fight back against because I knew by that time the people I would encounter against were the most arrogant people ever. I began hating people from my country. I only could pray for a situation to come up that would favor my retaliation. But till that time came, I became lonely and to keep me occupied, I used to think deeply about the descriptions of these Vedic Deities.

Vedic science was also a popular discussion at that time. I came across books that tried to relate Vedic content to explain the internal structure of atoms. And then there was Vedic mathematics. A very popular thing even till today. So that's when I felt there was a connection between science and mathematics on Vedic content. Vedas were also the basis of the Hindu religion. I really couldn't get that relation in my head. A relation between science, maths and religion? I stuck to the science and maths part. Then I came across Solid State Electronics. Electrons and holes were like some kind of liquid that had a diffusion process. They also would jump off from their valence band to conduction band and back down upon thermal conditions. This sounded like water evaporating, due to temperature, to the sky and falling back down as rain. Rain!!! Something that the Vedic scriptures talk about often. It kind of change my perspective towards Vedic understanding. And that's where it all started.

Science as a living thing

In my previous post, I stopped to show that science is an omnipresent thing and that every field that exist today is a science. But the word "science" actually sounds quite narrow to give a real picture of how this world is interconnected together. But we can start from there. It's better to start from what we already know to discover more. So I said science is omnipresent. This omnipresence is usually termed by scientists or mathematicians as the "general model". A model in which you can plug and play with different values to come up with a different result or make a sub-model. So you may be able to notice that the different fields that exist today work somewhat differently. I said "somewhat differently" meaning that there are quite a number of similarities because they all belong to the same general model. And it is because of this we humans are able to grasp their mechanism and make sense of it or understand that it makes sense. A simple example, say language... every language have their own way of expressing things. Some languages gender things, while others don't. But do we humans find that a problem? Absolutely not. We some how make sense of it but when asked, we say we don't know. We simply say its just the way it is. And if we think of the time when the language was maturing, we stop to ponder why on earth did we want to complicate things? But in the end we can translate perfectly from one language that genders things to language that doesn't and viz. Now when Natural Language engineers try to solve the problem through a general model, boy they have a tough time being accurate.

So there exists in us a mechanism that makes sense out of everything that makes sense. And when we want to explain that to someone who doesn't know that particular thing, we break it down to a simple model that he/she can understand to explain it. Stop here for a sec... isn't that the same thing as translating from one language to another? The key thing we just found here is translating. Its a general thing. Scientists rely on this to understand complex concepts or to explain complex concepts to the "general" public. Now let's get back to the understanding part. The thing that made the scientist understand it in the first place. There was something that helped him make sense out of it. Science!!! It sounds like it spoke to him breaking things down to a model he understands well. Now we can argue that it was his ingenuity that made him understand the concept. Well yes, that is bloody true... but we need to know that it was because he reached to that level of scientific knowledge that helped him understanding it. What helped him was the scientific knowledge he gained. If he didn't have that knowledge, he would have never made sense out of it.

As humans, we love give life to everything. Even variables in an equation. We often hear professors saying "this guy" (pointing to a variable) "is the guy that decides the bandwidth (for example)". Why do they do that? We love to relate to humans, which is why the professor didn't say "this cow is the cow that decides the bandwidth". No student would have liked that in the first place because it sounds funny. Why only cow, why not dog? By saying "guy" students picture it now as a dictator, like Hitler, and they like that. So the scientist might have pictured a human being (having the collective scientific knowledge) trying to explain the concept to him. That human could have been himself, the inner enlightened self.

This is exactly how the Vedic scriptures have been written. The authors gave life to every general concept that exists and in a dramatic style (we love movies) to convey them well to ones who are learning. So the mechanisms remain as mechanisms which humans can model as behaviors of living things for learning and explaining purposes only. Actually thinking that they are in human form is not quite acceptable.

These mechanisms that exist in every field also apply to the living world. So just like in a machine there exists communication within various parts and guidance of materials to be used all in a safe manner so that no other part gets damaged, and if in case that happens some corrective measures will be taken, to ensure that the whole governing system still functions properly, our living world can be thought to be like the same machine that communicates to various living things and guides them all in a safe manner to ensure that no other living thing gets hurt in the process and if in case that happens, a balance will be created, just to ensure that the system is still working well. And there's nothing wrong in imagining that this mechanism is some form of a higher being that communicates with us or to help us communicate with it.

Introduction

Vedic Science... sounds like a combination of religion and science. But is it possible? It's hard to even visualize a connection between religion and science. It's like saying that the Law of Gravity is religion. What is religion? It is a code of conduct followed by group of people. And the source of or the person who brought about this code of conduct is the God of that religion. In fact it is more oriented in believing that particular person is a God and not following his code of conduct. And if anyone denies that the person is a God, its disaster. Why do we get angry for a person whose time has passed? Shouldn't we just feel lucky that such a person came to this world to bring a community to live in a benevolent way? And then we separate ourselves from one another. Science doesn't have such separations. Every school child is exposed to different scientific concepts to help him/her choose his/her path. It can be agricultural, biological, physics, chemistry, electrical, electronics, economical, etc the list goes on. So that's why its difficult to visualize a connection between science and religion. Religion doesn't allow you choose your path of life. If in case you do, you stamp-marked as an atheist and treated as a social outcast. Now there is a separation between science and religion. The more you believe in science, the more atheist you are considered.

But let me tell you a truth. There does exist a connection between science and religion. By this I do mean that the code of conduct you follow is a science by itself. The science of benevolence. The authors who wrote the Vedas saw natural reality and extended that reality into ways of living benevolently. Indians date the Vedic scriptures to the inception of mankind when there were no differences among people. The concepts explained in these scriptures were used and still can be used in any aspect. In my later posts, I will explain these concepts in greater detail. The reader will be brought to new reality.

So in brief, Vedic Science is a science that intelligent beings can visualize. A science of the little experiences we have on a daily basis. Science means knowing the content and mechanism of a system. So a biologist knows the contents and mechanisms of a biological system. A chemist knows the contents and mechanism of a chemical reaction or a system. An electrical engineering knows the contents/components and the mechanism of their electrical behavior in the electrical system. An economist knows the contents/parameters that drive the economical system and the mechanisms they follow. So it is ubiquitous. I can literally take the three keywords, Knowing, Contents and Mechanism to describe any field/system. Can you feel its omnipresence? I do. That is the basis of Vedic Science. So the science of benevolent living means knowing the various contents/actions and the mechanism of how they influence the benevolent way of life. My later posts will explain this science in detail.
